We’ll know this week if the Great Lakes and Lake Saint Clair have the highest levels ever recorded by mankind. The Army Corps of Engineers started keeping records 101 years ago. Early indications are several records will be set because of heavy rain this year.
Lake St. Clair hasn’t been this high since 1986 and many say it is higher now. The same conditions are happening with Lake Superior and Lake Erie then and now.
Lake Ontario had high levels in 2017.
People living along the shore of Lake Saint Clair have put up sandbags and are using pumps to keep dry.
In St. Clair Shores, some streets are partially under water because they are below the high lake level and the water is flowing backwards through storm sewers. Many docks in marinas are under water.
The formal numbers will be known as early as tomorrow.
