Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib announced her bid for re-election in Detroit.
Tlaib represents Michigan's 13th Congressional District.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to run for re-election to represent and serve the incredible residents of 13th Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. "Together, we have worked tirelessly to deliver one of the best constituents service programs in the country to address the needs of everyday people and making sure it drives the legislative agenda in Washington, D.C.”
Michigan's primary election will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Tlaib made history when she was elected as the first Palestinian-American woman in Congress. She's known as part of "the squad," with fellow freshman Democrats Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She is also a member of the House Financial Services Committee and House Oversight and Reform Committee.
