A disabled Taylor mother and her adult son were sent to the hospital, after their home was condemned by the city.

Taylor Animal Control Supervisor Lanny Hall says the house on Harding Street was filled with garbage. He called it a severe case of hoarding, with more than 30 cats inside the home.

They spent several hours at the house Tuesday afternoon, but only could locate six cats.

Hall tells 7 Action News, "One of my officers fell through the garbage, and never touched the floor."

Neighbor Kelly Konrad says she called the city after dealing with an unbearable smell for more than a year.

Konrad told us, "I don't know what the smell is, but it's terrible. It smelled like junk."

Some compared it to the smell of dead bodies.

The mother and son were taken to the hospital to get checked out, and then the Red Cross was stepping in.

We're told the cats are being quarantined and a vet will check them out on Wednesday. They could be put up for adoption soon.
