A tweet posted from an account claiming to be Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has gained a sizable amount of traction on social media recently.
The tweet reads, "Americans have spent decades raping and pillaging my people. What goes around comes around. #FridayFeeling."
However, the tweet is not from Tlaib. Her actual Twitter account is verified, with a blue check mark next to her name. The fake account's Twitter handle spells her last name with a capital "I" instead of a lowercase "L." The account was suspended, but screenshots of the tweet are still circulating.
Tlaib is one of the first two Muslim woman ever elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and is the first with Palestinian heritage. She received national attention in her first week in office for using profanity in a pledge to impeach President Donald Trump.
