Seamus Sullivan is a little boy with special needs and cerebral palsy. His mom Colleen says thanks to her health care plan... He's doing well.
"A lot of that is because of the services we've been able to access through Medicaid both privately and through the schools," Colleen Sullivan said.
She's worried if the American health care act becomes law, she won't be able to afford insurance...
"Deeply saddened. A little bit horrified and frightened," Sullivan said.
Colleen's not alone.
“What do we want health care? When do we want it? Now.” Those were the words chanted by protesters outside Walberg’s office.
Sullivan's but one of many protestors marching on representative Tim Walburg's office. Fired up, scared of what repealing and replacing Obamacare might mean for the people they love.
"I'm sure none of us want to see someone we love not be able to get the care they need,” Terri McKinnon said.
"I have aging parents, lots of aging family members. The way these credits are structured will decimate our older population," Elody Samuelson said.
All around the protest you'd find signs listing diseases. These are pre-existing conditions and protestors say if you have ones like this, you might not get covered. Everybody had different signs. But everybody was here for the same reason... Change.
"I hope that the senate will take note that this is what they will face if they pass this," Sullivan said.
Congressman Tim Walberg wasn't at the office during the protest, but we did receive a statement from a spokesperson.
‘Congressman Walberg is working to fix the mess Obamacare created. And that's why he supports putting doctors and patients at the center of their health care decisions. Increasing choice and competition, lowering costs and providing protections for patients with pre-existing conditions.’
The statement also says Walberg is listening to the people in his district... And overwhelmingly they don't like Obamacare. It's unworkable, unaffordable... And will collapse under its own weight.
