A new bill introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives would eliminate license plate registration stickers.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Matt Maddock, a Republican from Milford.

Maddock said eliminating the tabs would save hundreds of thousands of dollars because the state would not have to print or mail tabs.

"If you add everything together, we're looking at 200 years of life we're spending in line in the state of Michigan," Maddock said.

Wayne County Undersheriff Dan Pfannes said the proposal does create some problems.

"That visual cue will be gone, number one, and number two, officers on a stop may not have the ability to access information," Pfannes said.

The bill is still in committee, and there was a hearing where Maddock said there wasn't much opposition.
