BudTrader, a cannabis social media platform, said it will donate marijuana to federal employees who are unable to pay for their medical marijuana.

BudTrader will donate the maximum legal allowable amount of cannabis to any federal employee affected by the shutdown.

“Almost a million people have been affected by the government shutdown. People depend on those paychecks, because of the shutdown, they won’t be arriving on time this month,” says BudTrader CEO Brad McLaughlin. “I don’t think federal employees are getting enough love and support, in these tough times, we want to extend the offer of a donation of medical cannabis to any federal worker affected by the shutdown. We only hope our actions inspire larger companies to also try and help federal employees affected by the shutdown.”

The company said it’s working with an attorney to “ensure that all cannabis donations given to federal employees are confidential and compliant with California Cannabis adult use laws and regulations.”
