(WXMI) — In an ongoing effort to overturn the election results, President Donald Trump’s campaign has taken to social media urging supporters to call the personal cellphones of lawmakers in several swing states including Michigan.

On Sunday, Team Trump’s social media pages posted cellphone numbers for state Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, R-Clarklake and for former state House Speaker Lee Chatfield, R-Levering.

The prompt instructed supporters to call and ask them to, “hear the evidence, correct false statements and demand vote on decertification.”

Though the campaign listed the wrong number for Chatfield and now a former northern Michigan resident who shares the same 231 area code, is being inundated with hundreds of calls and texts about the election.

The person, who now lives in California wants to remain private but spoke with FOX 17 about the mishap Monday afternoon.

“Hundreds, hundreds of calls and texts, I have to change my number there is just no other option,” they said

Among the hundreds of calls and texts, they say most have been understanding when they informed callers about the number mix-up, though some still believed the number belonged to the former House speaker.

“I’ll be like this isn't Lee and they'll be like ‘this has got to be the number that was posted’ and I'm like well it was the wrong number.”

“[I said] do I sound like Lee? And they're like, ‘well you must be the secretary’.”

They say they plan on changing their number as soon as possible.
