According to police, the man who was killed and the 22-year-old shooter had an earlier altercation in the food court bathroom. Police say later on, the man who was killed and another man saw the alleged shooter in the food court common area and reportedly attacked him before shots were fired.

Auburn Hills police say the alleged shooter is a CPL holder. They are describing the shooting as an "isolated, tragic incident."

“We just heard a lot of commotion, a lot of people running, was hearing things getting pushed over, just everybody frantically screaming, people were pulling their kids out of the strollers," said Alexis Cook, who was working at the time of the incident.

Auburn Hills police said the mall will remain closed for the rest of the evening as the investigation continues.

Police said the case will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for a review of charges.
