Best Friends Animal Society is giving an opportunity to pay it forward by covering the $25 adoption fee for a future family at more than 260 of its network organizations across the country, including Paws for Life Rescue.

Paws for Life operates throughout Oakland County, placing homeless pets with loving families.

“If you get excited when a stranger pays for your coffee, imagine the joy you’ll bring to someone who is ready to adopt their next best friend and finds out the adoption fee has been covered,” said Julie Castle, chief executive officer of Best Friends Animal Society.

Adoption fees can be donated at www.save-them-all.org and donors can share their excitement by posting a photo or comment with #PayItForward and #SaveThemAll hashtags.

The fee-waived adoptions will continue through July 4; all adult cats and dogs over 6 months old will be available for adoption at no charge from Paws for Life Rescue.

“The July 4th holiday causes shelters and rescues like ours to be flooded with displaced dogs and cats,” said Courtney Protz-Sanders, executive director at Paws for Life. “We love the Pay It Forward program because more pets find loving, forever homes and it’s another example of people helping people. We hope to send home every adult pet in our care.”

Adopters can get in on the Pay It Forward action in any of the following ways:

  • Apply for a pet online at www.pawsforliferescue.org
