Novi police have arrested an 18-year-old who allegedly created a fake social media account to pose as another student to make a threat against Novi public schools.
Jalen Mikel Winston, 18, was arraigned Sunday on three charges after allegedly threatening through social media Novi schools. Winston is a senior at Novi High School.
The student was arraigned in Oakland County Circuit Court and faces charges of false report of a felony, false report of bomb or harmful device and malicious use of a telecommunication device.
The Novi superintendent was alerted to the online threat Friday night then contact police.
Winston was given a $10,000 cash surety bond. He is due back in court Feb. 4.
