A new website from AAA Michigan and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) will allow you to search traffic crashes over the last 10 years in metro Detroit.
With the statistics, they were able to find that crashes in 2017 were up 9 percent from 2008 and were down one percent from 2016. There were 145,427 total crashes in southeast Michigan last year.
Traffic fatalities also decreased for the first time in seven years, down from 430 in 2016 to 369 in 2017. The 14 percent decrease was the largest in the past decade.
With the tool, you're able to give detailed information when searching for a specific crash, including the year, the month, the day, time of day, crash severity, crash factor and much more.
