SOUTHFIELD, Michigan — Since it was announced two weeks ago Amazon was taking pitches to bring their second headquarters, dubbed 'HQ2,' to a North American city, groups across the country, including Detroit, have been working to get things ready.

Now, the city of Southfield is working to pitch Amazon to bring HQ2 to the long vacant site of Northland Mall.

The city purchased the mall for $2.4 million and is expected to spend around $10 million to demolish most of it.

It's 125 acres and the city has talked about putting condos and retail, but commitments from developers like Amazon would be a great get.

The online retailer said they plan to spend around $5 billion on HQ2 and bring 50,000 jobs into the city they choose.

The Michigan Development Economic Corporation said they will review all Michigan proposals and submit the best to Amazon.
