A brand-new app is supposed to be able to tell you when your vehicle is involved in a safety recall.
7 Investigator Jim Kiertnzer test drove the app to see if it would pass or fail.
It's called My Carfax and is a free download for a smartphone.
One woman who talked to us said she knew about a recent recall, but not one that was issued three years ago. She said her car has been in the dealership since the 2014 recall but they didn't tell her above it.
The app is easy to use. All you have to do is punch in the license plate number, say you're from Michigan, confirm the make and model and it gives you everything you need to know in real time.
According to the Carfax website, one out of five Michigan cars on the road have recalls that have not been fixed and five of the top 10 cities in Michigan with those unfixed are in metro Detroit.
