More than 53K pounds of frozen ready-to-eat meatballs recalled due to undeclared allergens

Home Market Foods, Inc. recalled more than 53,000 pounds of frozen meatballs Thursday because they may contain undeclared allergens.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the recalled beef and pork meatballs contain milk and wheat, which is not listed on the product labels.

"The frozen ready-to-eat beef and pork meatball items are labeled as 'Homestyle Meatballs All Natural' products but may contain 'Cranberry Stuffed Meatballs' products," the FSIS's press release said.

Home Market Foods produced the meatballs produced on April 2 and sold in 48-oz. plastic bag packages labaled "COOKED PERFECT BRAND HOMESTYLE MEATBALLS All Natural." The "best if used by date on the packages is 07/02/20, and the packages have the establishment number "EST. 2727."

They were shipped to the following retail locations: Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina and Rhode Island.

The FSIS says consumers that purchased the meatballs should throw them away or return them to the retailer from which they were purchased.

Those with questions about the recall can contact Dawn Bourget, Senior Customer Service Manager at Home Market Foods, Inc., at (781) 948-1559.
