This is a win for McDonald’s, and possibly one of the chain’s most successful tests yet.
The fast food giant is having a difficult time keeping up with demand as orders of its “Gilroy Garlic Fries” fly of shelves in Northern California, according to Time.
McDonald's is testing the fries at four locations in the San Francisco Bay area, but will be out of the specialty fries – made from locally-sourced garlic -- for the next few days.
"In less than two weeks, our small, four-restaurant test of Gilroy Garlic Fries has been a huge success, and we are now experiencing a temporary shortage of supplies," said in a statement. “We are excited about how many people have visited our restaurants to try the fries, and we apologize for any inconvenience to our customers.”
McDonald’s expects to be restocked in a few weeks.
Time notes that the temporary hiccup may actually be good news for lovers of the new item, as the chain previously said the fries would be made available to all 250 Bay Area McDonald’s locations if a trial went well.
And it's impressive that the item did do well, as Gilroy is considered the Garlic Capital of the World and hosts the Gilroy Garlic Festival every July.
It’s far from the first time McDonald’s has tested out new items, and it certainly isn’t the last.
In Texas and Ohio, it’s also reportedly testing out smaller and larger Big Macs – called the Mac Jr. and The Grand Mac, respectively.
Additionally, the chain is reportedly planning a new loyalty program, which would customers in many locations one free McCafé drink after the purchase of five.
