A teacher at Lowell Scott Middle School in Boise, Idaho won the $100,000 grant from the Dream Big Teacher national competition grant.

Paula Brockman was one of six teachers to win the $100,000 Dream Big Challenge grant.

"This work process has taught me what I can do.  That I can help make a difference," Brockman said.  "When you put your heads together and you have a goal and you want to reach that goal you just don't give up."

In a surprise ceremony, Brockman was given the news of winning the competition from Lowell Scott Middle School Principal Linda Ventura and Farmers Insurance Agent Fred Kesler.

The outdoor learning center will feature a greenhouse and extended garden area, a fish farm station, a circular seating area for group lesson and other creative spaces.
