Voters in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties have chosen to extend the Detroit’s Zoo’s millage.

The measure passed with overwhelming support in Oakland County.

With almost all of the votes counted as of 12:15 p.m. in Macomb and Wayne, it is sailing towards passage there as well.

The millage, which was first approved in 2008, raises about one-third of the Zoo’s $35 million yearly budget.

It had been scheduled to expire in 2018.

At one-tenth mill, the millage costs someone with a home worth $200,000 $10 annually.
