42 states ask for election security help

All but eight states have asked the Department of Homeland Security for help to protect their election systems against cyber threats.

Several county and local agencies have also asked for assistance.

Concerns about attempted cyber attacks on election systems are on the rise this election cycle, especially after accusations from Donald Trump.

But, security experts say it would be extremely difficult to alter or affect the outcome of the national election.
