ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. — Three people, including a gunman, were killed in a shooting Thursday morning inside a Publix grocery store in Royal Palm Beach, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Officials with the PBCSO say a gunman, identified as 55-year-old Timothy J. Wall of Royal Palm Beach, shot a woman and her year-old grandson inside the grocery store just after 11:30 a.m. Wall was also found dead at the scene.
"There is no known motive or relationship between the gunman and the victims," PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera said in a news release Thursday night. "However, detectives are still investigating."
Deputies were called to the store at 11:39 a.m. local time Thursday morning. Barbera said when deputies arrived, they found three people dead from gunshot wounds near the produce area of the store.
Officials say the firearm used in the shooting was a handgun.
"This one is hard. You don't like to hear about these things in your district. You don't like to hear about them anywhere in the country," Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay said, according to WPTV.
The store will remain closed until Saturday.
"Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy," Publix spokesperson Maria Brous said in a statement. "We are cooperating with the local law enforcement. Since this is an active police investigation, we cannot confirm any additional details."
