President-Elect Joe Biden is being evaluated after spraining his ankle in his backyard earlier this weekend.

According to Jonathan Tamari, a National Politicial Reporter with the Philadelphia Inquirer, Biden slipped while playing with his dog, Major, and twisted his ankle on Saturday, Nov. 28.

Out of an abundance of caution, Biden was be examined this afternoon by doctors with Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists.

"In order to avoid disrupting regularly scheduled appointments on Monday, arrangements were made for President-elect Biden to receive an x-ray and then an additional CT Sunday afternoon, with the expected delays involved when opening closed offices and giving personnel time to set up," a Biden spokesperson said in a statement.

In a follow-up press release, Dr. Kevin O'Connor confirmed that Biden suffered a sprained ankle.

"Initial X-rays are reassuring that there is no obvious fracture and he will be getting an additional CT for more detailed imaging," Dr. O'Connor said in a media statement.
