The U.S. Army Recruiting Command is warning citizens of fraudulent text messages informing people that they have been selected in a military draft.
Messages have been sent to people across the country that say they have been chosen in a military draft and need to contact someone or go to a recruiting office.
The decision to enact a draft, which the U.S. hasn’t had since 1973, isn’t made at or by the Recruiting Command. If the national emergency necessitates a draft, Congress and the president would need to pass official legislation to authorize one.
