Police in Superior Township are investigating the shooting death of a 28-year-old mother who had given birth to twins less than three weeks ago.
Police were called to a home on the 1000 block of Ridge Road in Superior Township around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, after the suspect’s mother called. The suspect told his mother that he had just shot his wife.
When police arrived, they found the 28-year-old mother dead from a gunshot wound.
Police said the suspect, the woman’s 26-year-old husband, had left their home with the couple’s 2.5-week-old twins.
He was later found at a relative’s home in Van Buren Twp., along with the babies.
Nobody else was injured and the babies are with relatives, according to police.
The suspect is being housed in Washtenaw County Jail, charges are pending.
