Not everybody is thrilled with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s bold move to make Michigan the first state to ban flavored e-cigarettes.
The move bans the online and retail sale of flavored e-cigarettes for six months after the Michigan health department deemed vaping to be a health crisis.
Whitmer claims e-cigarette companies are using flavors like Fruit Loops or Fanta to hook young people.

Gregory Conley, the President of the American Vaping Association, is warning the move will force e-cigarettes users to start smoking even more harmful traditional cigarettes and will create a black market for the products.
“Governor Whitmer’s ban will create a massive, multi-million dollar black market for these products, which are the same conditions that led to the recent spate of lung illnesses that are now clearly linked to illegal THC vaping products,” said Conley in a statement.
In addition, Conley added the ban will force hundreds of small businesses to shut down.
