Smoke bombs set off at school in Shelby Township

Five students have been arrested after smoke bombs were set off at Malow Junior High in Shelby Township Thursday morning.

The school was evacuated in what appears to be a prank. Firefighters responded to the school. Students returned to class after the building was aired out.

One staff member was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

No other students were injured. An investigation is under way and witnesses are urged to contact the Shelby Township Police Department at 586-731-2121.
