Microsoft and the Autism Alliance of Michigan have partnered to hold a special educational event in honor of Autism Acceptance Month.

The Rise Assistive Technology Summit is aimed at helping community members learn more about autism and the resources currently available.

This is the event's first year. It's free, open to the public and runs all day long on April 29.

Professionals, educators and community members are encouraged to attend.

The focus will be on assistive technology options.

Attendees are invited to stay all day for discussions, hands-on workshops and other activities. If you just want to drop in and ask a quick question, you can do that, too.

The summit will be held at the Microsoft office in Southfield on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Those wanting to attend are encouraged to reserve a seat in advance. There are about 300 spots available.
