A woman has been accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl at Vassar Residential Campus.
Ravonna Carpenter was taken into custody and charged with one count of first degree criminal sexual misconduct, four counts of second degree criminal sexual misconduct, and one count of third degree criminal sexual misconduct.
One of the lawyers representing the minor said they notified law enforcement of evidence of that Carpenter was allegedly trying to actively seek physical contact with the client, sending her a cell phone number, trying to see what school she attends.
The minor's mother, Shiree Ezell, said she feels the "beginning of justice being served."
"Now that the woman that sexually abused her is off the streets I can sleep more peacefully," she said. "Our family now has a chance to begin healing.”
Carpenter was arraigned and her bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety/10%.
