The future of police dogs is being called into question now that recreational marijuana is legal in Michigan.

Michigan State Police say they no longer use marijuana-sniffing dogs during roadside searches unless there's another reason to search the car.

Fortunately, the K-9s are cross-trained, which means they will still play an important role on the force.

MSP says going forward, training for K-9s will focus on detecting other narcotics.
