A Bay County man was bitten by a pet cobra and given 20 vials of antivenom from Florida's Miami-Dade County.

According to WJRT, the man had been bitten on the ankle on July 17 by a Monocled Cobra that he keeps as a pet.

He was taken from a hospital in Pinconning Township to DMC in Detroit, where he was given the antivenom.

WJRT says the Monocled Cobra is native to Africa, Australia and Asia. The Bay County Sheriff's Office said they are investigating to see if there are any laws that prevent keeping a venomous pet like this at home. The man reportedly owns several other venomous reptiles.
