(WXYZ) — A Michigan man who was serving time in prison for selling marijuana in the 1990s is now a free man.
Michael Thompson, 70, was released from the Jackson Correctional Facility early Thursday morning.
He had spent 25 years in prison for 1994 non-violent crime of selling marijuana.
Whitmer committed Thompson's sentence at the end of 2020 after the Free Michael Thompson movement and Last Prisoner Project gained traction online.
