A Macomb County couple plans to invest in their children's education after winning $4 million playing Super Raffle.

The couple bought their winning ticket at The Silver House Liquor, located at 25 Mile Road in Macomb.

"My husband and I were on our way home from a high school football game when we realized we forgot to buy our normal Mega Millions tickets," said the winner. "We made a quick stop to get our tickets and asked the clerk if the Super Raffle tickets were still available. When he told us the drawing date had been extended, we mulled the decision over for a minute, and decided to buy a ticket."

"On Oct. 4, my husband realized the drawing had taken place a day earlier and checked our ticket. At first, he didn't believe what he was seeing, so he called me at work and asked me to check it. When he read the number off to me, I checked it online at the Lottery's website and that's when the shock of winning hit us both."

The winners chose to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.5 million, rather than annual payments for the full amount.

"That night, we did a family Facetime call with our kids who are away at college to tell them the news. We told them that they don't need to worry about working while they go to school and we'll pay for their tuition."
