Would you marry a complete stranger?
A Shelby Township-native and his now wife are one of three couples who took the plunge and got legally married on season 5 of Lifetime’s reality TV show “Married at First Sight.”
D’Amico, a 33-year-old advertising executive married Ashley Petta, a 30-year-old restaurant manager in Chicago, where the couple lives.
The show, which is half social experiment, half reality TV, matches applicants by using relationship and psychology experts.
“I was so ready to be a husband and start a family. I’ve done a good amount with my life and that was the next adventure for me,” D’Amico said in a statement to Mike Staff Productions, a metro Detroit photography company hired to take pictures of all the weddings in season 5.
The laughs and drama of the infantile relationship have been playing out since the season premiered on April 20.
“Having cameras in front of you every day for 8 weeks can be a little crazy at times. Like when you get home from a crappy day at work and all you want to do is sit on the couch and do nothing….Yeahhhhhh that didn’t exist during filming.”
