A mother has been arrested after police say she was driving while under the influence.
Sunday afternoon Troy police got a tip from a driver that a woman in another vehicle was swerving in the road.
Police noticed her on East Maple and Livernois turning into a Citgo gas station.
“Talking to the driver the officers were able to tell she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They did a full investigation she was slurring her words she wasn't able to stand up straight,” Megan Lehman with the department says.
Inside the car was her 10-month old baby and inside her purse was Xanax and Norco.
Lehman says the 25-year old mother admitted the drugs were not hers.
Child Protective Services was called out and the mother was arrested.
"It's likely that with this person it is not the first time that it's happened and this person felt comfortable enough to do this with her own child so it's a real scary issue," Lehman says.
Police are waiting to get test results back.
