Metro Detroit hero meets The Rock on his new movie set in Vancouver

It's been two weeks in the making. A local boy, hailed a hero for saving his younger brother's life from the family pool, finally meeting his hero.

Ten-year-old Jacob O'Connor, his Mother and brother flew to Vancouver, Canada over the weekend to meet Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, on his new movie set "Skyscrapper."

It was a movie starring The Rock that helped Jacob save his 2-year-old brother Dylan, who fell into the family's pool. He was face down for almost a minute.  It was then he remembered seeing the Rock in the movie San Andreas doing chest compressions to save his daughter.  Jacob, did the same thing on Dylan.

Seeing and meeting Jacob's idol in Vancouver was a dream come true.  There were tears of joy, happiness, and, oh yeah, lots and lots, of treats.

When Jacob first me the Rock, he didn't know what to do. 

"I was nervous really nervous," said Jacob.

When the trio arrived in Vancouver, the welcome mat was rolled out, with plenty of tasty treats.

"There was a big table with cake, marshmallows, chocolate and some small toys," said Jacob.

The Rock taking to social media, posting pictures on his Instagram account, when the on screen hero, met the real life hero.

Jacob says it was the best thing that's ever happened to him, "He said, nice to meet everybody and he shook our hands and stuff."

The Rock, even taking a few minutes to sit down one on one with Jacob, and posting a video on his Instagram account thanking Jacob and his family for flying to Vancouver, but more importantly being a hero.

It's an experience Jacob and his new buddy the rock will never forget, and formed a special bond.

When asked if Jacob plans on staying in contact with the Rock, he simply said, "probably keep in contact."

Oh, and one more thing, Jacob can now call his hero Uncle DJ.
