Two men connected to a large drug trafficking operation in northern Michigan were arrested in Detroit on Thursday morning.

7 Action News was there as Michigan State police served two warrants at a home on the city's east side. They have been searching for the men for the past three to four years. They were assisted by the Western Wayne Narcotics Team.

Inside the home they found heroin, drug trafficking evidence like packaging and a hand gun. One suspect was arrested inside the house while the other was found walking in the city.

"Through our investigation, it led us to individuals and witnesses who notified us this was where they were operating out of," Lt. Daniel King with the MSP Traverse Narcotics team said. "For northern Michigan, these individuals were bringing in over 50 grams of heroin t northern Michigan at a time. They're runners, so for every one gram of heroin, there's 10 doses."

The suspects were transported to the MSP Metro Post in order to be transported north for arraignment.

We don't know what the men will be charged with yet, but they each face at least a dozen criminal counts.
