Last week, the internet fell i love with Dan Tillery and his adopted dog, Diggy, in Wateford Township.

The smiling dog, formerly known as Sir Wiggleton, took the internet by storm with photos of Diggy smiling with Tillery.

But, now, Waterford Township is trying to remove Sir Wiggleton, now named Diggy, from his new home, according to a news release from Detroit Dog Rescue. After the story went viral, residents reportedly called police because they were concerned the dog was a pit bull. Having a pit bull violates city ordinance in Waterford Township.

Tillery listed Diggy as a an "American bulldog/pit bull mix," and when officers visited the home last week, they gave him a warning and said he needed to move Diggy out by Monday.

When officers returned on Monday, Diggy was still being housed in Waterford Township, and officers issued him a civil infraction and told him to contact the court within 10 days for a hearing. Diggy remained at home.

At the hearing, Tillery will have the opportunity to show confirmation that Diggy is in fact an American Bulldog/pit bull mix, and the court will then make a determination.
