A Birmingham man and dog are recovering Saturday night after being attacked while walking in a quiet neighborhood.

The couple says the attack happened at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Linden Park in Birmingham. The park is located on Lincoln Street, west of Southfield Road.

The dog underwent emergency surgery and received stitches to her chest. The man had puncture wounds to his hands and face.

Police are searching for a mixed breed dog, approximately 65-70 pounds, according to the couple. It was being walked by its owners, but was off the leash at the time of the attack, they say.
