Ahmed Syed Anwarullah was fired from United Shore Mortgage on Monday and later that day, he allegedly made threats to that company and against the United States.
The company called the Oakland County Sheriff.
“He threatened a lot of the coworkers," says Undersheriff Mike McCabe. "He said he had all the sales force contacts, he knew where people lived. He said I have more ammo to blow up your desecrated country.”
Before being fired, McCabe says he posed in pictures with an AR-15 assault rifle and a handgun and described it this way, “He sent a video of him at a range with an AR-15 pointed up in the air, a couple of cartridges and said Indians don’t play.”
McCabe says Anwarullah then had trouble over the weekend at the company Christmas party at a downtown casino.
“He became extremely intoxicated, belligerent, obnoxious, they removed him from the party," McCabe said. "He came back a second time. They removed him again.”
Anwarullah was charged with making a threat of terrorism, which carries up to 20 years in prison if convicted. He was given a $50,000 bond but as of late Thursday was still in the Oakland County Jail. If he posts bond he must wear a GPS tether. He has no criminal record. He was arrested at his home in Sterling Heights and police removed three handguns and two long guns.
United Shores responded to the charges with the below statement:
“The safety, security and well-being of every United Shore team member will always be the number one priority for our company. We create and practice security procedures on a regular basis. Some of these procedures were used Monday when a former team member, who was employed for 10 weeks, made a threat against the country from his home. The threat was not against United Shore. The threat was made via a message to a former colleague and was detected by our security monitoring systems and was immediately reported to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, whose deputies took quick action. Prior to the threat, the man had been separated from the company for performance issues and erratic behavior.”
