A pregnant mother of two was gunned down on Detroit’s southwest side during a double murder.
It happen in a home on Deacon St. just off the corner of Visger St. on Tuesday evening.
Sophia Wilson, 29, and a man police have not yet identified were inside the home when Detroit police say a suspect walked up and fired shots through the homes walls.
"Seated inside the house on two separate couches when an unknown shooter approached the residence with a long gun and fired from outside and into the house,” said Capt. Darin Szilagy with the Detroit Police Department.
The bullets went right through the front of the home. Police don’t know why the home was targeted.
"We are pursuing a couple of theories on this,” said Szilagy.
According to her parents, Wilson lived at the home with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend was not the other shooting victim.
"We told her many times that she could come stay with us but she just loved the person she was with,” said Monica Wilson, Sophia’s mother.
While 7 Action News cameras were rolling, police took two people into custody at the scene.
"At this time they're people at the scene, I wouldn't call them people of interest but they're people we want to talk to,” said Szilagy.
Sophia’s family said she was a loving mother of a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old and was excited about her pregnancy.
"She was 4 months pregnant and she just about to find out what she was having," said Wilson.
Her family is simply devastated.
"You hear it everyday, I listen to you all everyday, I never thought that it would be our child,” said Wilson.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at Crime Stoppers, 1 (800) SPEAK-UP.
Sophia Wilson’s family also set up a GoFundMe account to help with expenses for her burial and her two surviving children, you donate here.
