Long lines and big crowds – those are some of the biggest complaints made by shoppers, especially during the holiday season.

However, in an effort to keep people from shopping online, brick and mortar stores are now offering some exciting new technologies to make the shopping experience quicker and easier than ever before.

Do you like shopping at Walmart, Home Depot or Target?

Using their app, a shopper can now find exactly where a product is in a nearby store, down to the isle. Home Depot’s app will tell you exactly how many of that product are left in stock so you can know before you go.

Meanwhile, Meijer, in select Michigan locations, takes the concept of “self check out” to a whole new level by allowing shoppers to use their app to scan and ring up each product on their own phone. By the time you get to check out, you simply have to hand over your card.

More of a makeup fan?

Beauty retailer Sephora’s app is now offering a way to make your in store experience more efficient.

Sales associates at Sephora will get a ping that you just walked into the store and then they can help you based on your profile, your shades and your preferences.

First, you have to opt into the app, and once you're signed up it further allows you to scan products for ratings and reviews, and look up past purchases.
