People across the area will flood their local bars on Sunday to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and ride-sharing service Lyft is teaming up with local law enforcement agencies and Budweiser to make sure the roads stay safe.

Lyft is offering 50 percent off one ride, up to $8 maximum, on behalf of Budweiser's new non-alcoholic brand called "Prohibition Brew." That code will be PROHIBITIONDTW.

On top of that, both the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and Ferndale Police Department will be distributing Lyft ride credits in the form of physical green coupons to local bars and directly to those in need of a ride. Those coupons will be valid for up to $15 and will be imprinted with a promo code valid from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 16 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.

“St. Patrick’s Day has become a day for everyone to celebrate in the Irish festivities, however, we encourage safe driving practices to keep our roads free from impaired drivers,” said Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard. “The Sheriff’s Office is pleased to partner with Lyft to give those who celebrate a little too much an option to get home safely.”

Ferndale Police Sgt. Baron Brown said. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone here in Ferndale celebrating, has a happy and safe day," Ferndale Police Sgt. Baron Brown said. "Say “Hi” to one of our officers. Take a coupon with the Lyft promo-code. Use the Lyft app to get home at the end of your day of green beer. You don’t have any excuses if you get locked up for driving after you’ve been drinking”.

To use the codes, just open the Lyft app, tap on your profile image and then "promos" and enter the code.
