A wreath laying ceremony took place in East Lansing Friday in honor of Memorial Day.
A wreath to honor the men and women who served in the armed forces was placed on a grave by the city of East Lansing and the Lansing-based 1st Battalion 24th Marines.
George Lahanas, East Lansing City Manager said, "I think that we have to remember the service that keeps this country safe and free. And that's the service of men and women in Armed Forces and the sacrifice that they give to keep our country safe."
The ceremony took place at the Medal of Honor Monument at the East Lansing Community Center at noon.
