LANSING TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Tuesday afternoon, around 2:45 p.m., the westbound lanes of Saginaw at Edgemont in Lansing Township were closed due to an accident.
The accident involved a dump truck and a pedestrian.
Lansing Township Police told FOX 47 that a woman from Lansing walked into traffic from the bus stop crossing Saginaw near Waverly Road.
A dump truck was in the far right lane heading westbound and driving the speed limit (which is 40mph there).
The woman walked into his path and the driver was unable to slow down.
The woman was hit by the driver side mirror of the truck and was knocked to the pavement.
She was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
Police are reporting that she has fractures to her arm and skull.
Alcohol is not considered to be a factor.
