It's hard enough for parents to send their children to an assisted-living home. Those feelings are only magnified when something goes wrong at the home. FOX 47's Alani Letang spoke with the parents of an assault victim.

The victims mother, Cindy Noble, got the call no parent ever wants to receive, her daughter was in the hospital after a vicious beating. On Tuesday she told Letang that she's putting part of the blame on the staff at the assisted living home. "It was hell going down there last night and of course it seems like everybody is on the road and in your way," said Cindy Noble.

Danny and Cindy Noble's daughter, Carrie, was brutally assaulted Monday night at Turning Leaf, the assisted living home where Carrie stays. "When I saw her, it took everything it took everything I had to not come unglued because I can't go to jail I got to take care of her," said Noble

Lansing Police told FOX 47 that Carrie was attacked by 20-year-old Tracie Phillips who also lives at the home. Danny and Cindy said their daughter told them the attack was over a man. They said Phillips hit Carrie with a PVC pipe while she was in her wheelchair. Noble said, "it was my understanding that the girl was beating her so hard on the back, that it forced Carrie out of her chair."

That was only the beginning. "She broke both her arms, she bit her on her breast, she's got major bruising on her back, shoulders, her arms, her stomach, and her hips where she fell out of the wheelchair." Cindy Noble claims the staff at Turning Leaf didn't respond quickly enough. "They didn't do anything until the person started beating Carrie with a PVC pipe. That lady should never gotten anyway near Carrie. Yes, I think turning leaf should be held accountable," said Noble

Carrie has Sturge Weber Syndrome, which has left the right side of her body paralyzed. She needs help with basic functions on a normal day. But with no use of her arms, it brings a new challenge and her parents told Letang they don't trust Turning Leaf to take care of her. "If I don't do it who's going to? I'm her mom that's what I do, that's what I've always done for her," said Noble

Turning Leaf is not commenting on the story except to say the incident is being handled through the proper channels. FOX 47 will keep pushing for a response to Cindy Noble's claim that the staff did not respond quickly enough. Phillips has been arraigned and is charged with two counts of assault.

FOX 47 will keep you updated on the case.
