Western Michigan University has fired its head track coach.
The news comes about a week after the university announced Kelly Lycan would be placed on administrative leave.
He was suspended just before his team competed in the 2019 indoor MAC Championships in Ohio.
The university said Lycan had violated his contract but didn't explain in what way.
Lycan was tapped as head coach of Western’s women’s cross country and track and field teams prior to the 2001-02 seasons.
Since then, the team has won 49 individual Mid-American Conference titles and 20 MAC relay titles across the indoor and outdoor seasons.
