Crashes involving about three dozen vehicles closed part of Interstate 94 in southwestern Michigan for a few hours.

WOOD-TV and the Kalamazoo Gazette report the pileup started about 9 a.m. Thursday near Mattawan in Van Buren County. Some motorists suffered minor injuries.

Slippery road conditions from snowfall are believed to have contributed to the crashes.

The Ludington Daily News reports a 2-vehicle crash happened about 7 a.m. Thursday in Mason County's Amber Township when a pickup truck slid into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a SUV. The SUV's driver suffered minor injuries.
