A software consultant from Boston, Massachusetts is $200,000 richer after he was named the winner of Michigan's "Invasive Carp Challenge."
Edem Tsikata beat out the other three finalists with his "Cavitation Barrier" concept, to block the invasive fish from reaching the Great Lakes.
Governor Rick Snyder announced the competition last year, and a worldwide search for innovative ideas to keep the Asian carp from reaching Michigan waterways began.
In June of 2017 an invasive Silver Carp was caught in a river near Chicago, just nine miles away from Lake Michigan.
