Just like the weather, the St. Clair Saints defense went cold, as the Williamson Hornets shut them out 28-0 to win the regional title.

The Saints, who scored 132 points over their first two playoff games, hit a brick wall in the Williamson defense.

"Our kids will hit on a Friday night, we've seen that all year long. You go back to the St. John's game, they took it to our defense, and from that point on they said 'we're better than that.' And it's been good to us," said Hornets coach Steve Kirsten.

The Hornets were out front from the get go, and they give credit to their home field advantage.

"We made a wise decision when we decided to play at home," said Kirsten. "We could have talked to Okemos or Lansing Catholic Central, but we knew they played about 7 or 8 games on turf all season so come to the Williamson mud pit, let's play football."

The hornets will play the winner of Farmington Hills Harrison and Chelsea for a chance to play at Ford Field.
