LANSING, Mich. — William Strampel says Michigan State is trying to make him take the fall for the Nassar Scandal.
Strampel wants a judge to convince Michigan State to produce emails he claims will help defend him against willful neglect of duty charges.
That filing says those emails are among documents the university held back or even redacted.
Without them Strampel claims he has little defense against the state.
Court records show the emails were between Strampel and Associate General Theresa Kelley, and involved specific direction regarding Nassar's return to seeing patients at the university clinic.
According to court records, a hearing on Strampel's motion will be held in Ingham county Circuit Court this Friday.
It's scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
On top of the two charges of willful neglect of duty, Strampel is also facing a felony misconduct in office and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct for acts unrelated to Nassar's abuse.
Last month, FOX 47 News reported the attorney general's office filed a motion to charge Strampel with a new count of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
The same judge will hear arguments on that motion this Friday as well.
