WINNIPEG, Canada — A wildlife rehabilitation center in Canada is asking people to donate mascara brushes, but they're not for the staff.

Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is requesting donations to help care for animals.

People in Canada can drop their mascara wands off at Pembina 24 hour vet or Wild Birds Unlimited.

Those of us who don't live in Canada can send wands to 48059 RPO Lakewood Wpg, MB R2J 4A3.

While they're great for accentuation your eyelashes, for animals, their purpose can be lifesaving.

The brushes can be used to clean off small insects that have been stuck inside owls' feathers.

They're also used to remove burr plants, which contain seeds that are highly toxic to animals.
